Dedicated vs dedicated
Comms vs Photon
Comms is an SMS + iMessage line with an inbox and an optional agent. Photon sells a $250/line agent runtime. Compare line to line — not Plus to Business.
The honest split
Photon publishes pricing at photon.codes/pricing (August 2026). Business iMessage is $250 per line per month: dedicated lines, unlimited daily messages on their copy, RCS/SMS fallback, group API, cold outreach up to 50 new contacts/day. Free and Pro are managed shared pools. Open source can run on your own Mac / iCloud. Enterprise is custom.
Comms Dedicated is $200/month with $0 setup: your own E.164, you pick the area code, 5,000–7,000 messages a day, plus the inbox and an optional agent. That is $200 for the line and the place your team sits. Photon $250 is the published dedicated line inside Spectrum. Different objects — we still put them on one table because both are “dedicated iMessage line” searches.
If you want the framework — many chat surfaces, self-host, Spectrum — start with Photon. If you already text customers and you are shopping a number with an inbox, Dedicated is the SKU. Plus at $50 is a shared trial. Do not put it next to $250/line.
